According to research* conducted by STANLEY®, almost 40% of UK tradespeople have injured themselves when lifting or holding heavy items during their work, with 78% of those subsequently losing income and 67% missing out on up to £5,000 of revenue as a direct result of the injury. The survey also revealed that the biggest frustration of trade professionals is not having a colleague to assist with holding or lifting bulky materials and other large items on site. Furthermore, 80% questioned confirmed that they would be interested in a dedicated tool to help with such tasks.
As a solution to this problem, STANLEY has announced the STANLEY FATMAX® TradeLift™, a heavy-duty tool engineered for a wide range of lifting, levelling, holding and fitting applications. The powerful TradeLift delivers 150kg lifting force, allowing users to manoeuvre large and heavy items when working alone – and is the ideal helping hand for kitchen, floor, door and window fitting, carpentry, joinery, drywall installation, general construction work and much more.
In the STANLEY survey, more than 61% of respondents believed a tool such as TradeLift would potentially reduce the risk of injuries in the future, and 50% thought that the tool would help them save time. Other perceived benefits included saving costs and making the job less tiring.
Designed with maximum safety in mind, the TradeLift incorporates a reinforced push down lever that can be operated by foot, enabling users to apply pressure to the handle for easier lifting of heavy loads compared to a traditional trigger-style mechanism. It also includes a recessed full release button to avoid accidental activation of the full release.
In addition, the TradeLift features 220mm of total lifting capacity and is equipped with a fine adjuster, which lowers the lift plate by up to 2.5mm per toggle – allowing exact adjustments when levelling the workpiece. An angled edge on the base ensures the tool can slide effortlessly underneath low objects. For maximum stability, STANLEY has integrated four countersunk screw holes, permitting users to anchor the lift down securely, and has incorporated a large-sized base plate to help avoid the risk of tipping.
Robust and resilient, this versatile tool features an enclosed metal plate housing, delivering added durability and preventing dust and debris from entering the tool. Furthermore, an ergonomically-designed overmoulded handle affords maximum grip, comfort and control.
The STANLEY FATMAX TradeLift is available to purchase individually (order code FMHT83550-1) or as a twin-pack (order code FMHT83552-1).
Nicola Butcher, product manager for STANLEY, said, “With this research in mind, we have identified demand for a safe, fully-featured lifting tool that professionals can depend on completely. The innovative STANLEY FATMAX TradeLift combines intuitive release controls and ergonomic design with solid, reliable construction and secure, strong and stable base plates. From raising and levelling kitchen units, to nudging heavy objects such as appliances into place, to efficiently fitting large sheet materials, this class-leading precision tool takes the effort out of lifting – and allows one-person working, saving both time and money, and increasing productivity on the jobsite.”
